About the cottage

On a private road about 100 yards from the beach is a row of colourful fisherman’s cottages. In the centre of these, cheerfully decorated with bright yellow detailing, is 2 Sunnyside.

From the front door, wander down to the village beach where calm waters invite paddleboarders and swimmers year-round, or venture along the coastal path to discover secret coves that feel like they’re waiting just for you.

★★★★★ The location is incredible and we quickly got into the routine of a short stroll to the beach and grabbing a morning coffee and pastry from the hut there. We’ll definitely be back!

After a day exploring the coastal path (which conveniently passes right through the village), warm your toes by the wood-burning stove as you plan tomorrow’s adventure. The village’s welcoming pub, artisan coffee shop and local restaurant are a few footsteps from your door.

The space

As you step through the front door, you’ll discover a wonderfully bright open-plan living space where the wood-burning stove stands ready for cozy evenings after coastal adventures. Every corner tells a story. Carefully chosen modern furniture mingles with characterful vintage pieces from South Africa and Mexico, creating a space that feels both stylish and genuinely welcoming. The thoughtful layout offers plenty of room for families to gather or couples to unwind. It’s a space designed for making memories, whether you’re planning tomorrow’s beach expedition or sharing stories over a glass of something special as the evening draws in. (A selection of kids’ games is also provided).

Upstairs the versatile third bedroom with its daybed, provides an additional space for little explorers in the evenings, or peaceful office space if you really must check in.

★★★★★ Our trip was a real treat. The house’s location is great, in a village with good food options and beautiful beaches. The house itself is not only decorated beautifully and pristine, but also had lots of thoughtful touches such as extras for families and a killer poetry collection for reading.

The kitchen is a cook’s dream – think Portuguese porcelain and Le Creuset cookware and a selection of inspiring recipe books for creating wonderful meals together. This leads to the enclosed courtyard with a dining table (perfect for morning coffee).

Just inside the back entrance is a dedicated a “wet area” for wetsuits, beach toys, boots, etc, leading directly onto a laundry room with washing machine, tumble dryer, basin and clothes rack.

Upstairs, the book-filled master bedroom promises relaxation on its European king-size bed with a very comfortable Conran mattress, while the flexible second bedroom can host either 2 single beds or connect into a super-kingsize bed. The third bedroom is an ideal kid’s bedroom as the daybed can be converted into a small single.

There is a family bathroom with a bath and shower.

Long-stays welcome outside peak season – ask us about extended winter retreats in this special corner of Cornwall.

★★★★★ We had a wonderful stay at Katherine’s beautiful house for our first visit to Cornwall. We went with our dog and our 10 month old baby and the house was perfect for us. Katherine has thought of everything including having dark blinds you can pop up at the windows in the room where babies or young children are staying. The location is incredible and we quickly got into the routine of a short stroll to the beach and grabbing a morning coffee and pastry from the hut there. We’ll definitely be back!

Guest access

Guests will have private use of the entire house which includes a delightful enclosed courtyard garden.

Other things to note

The third bedroom is set up as a study/reading room. There is a daybed in it which a child could sleep on, but is not comfortable enough for an adult.

The house has been prepared with families in mind. It has a travel cot, high chair and one stair gate at the top of the steps. There is also a selection of kids’ toys in the living room cupboard.

The blinds in the bedrooms are not blackout blinds. However, there are portable blackout blinds available which can be attached to the windows if needed.

Pets

Well behaved dogs are welcome and must be added to the booking. Please keep them downstairs and off the sofas.

Dogs are charged at £25 per stay which is added to the total when booking.
