First of all, best of luck to Simon Stallard and his Hidden Hut team who are showing the G7 guests how we do it with style in Cornwall tonight with a wood fired beach feast like no other! Do us proud, Si!
This month we've invited some of last month's featured foodies to reveal their guilty pleasures, and they've come up with some gems, so here we go...
If you have any secrets for future editions of our monthly secrets, please email them to email@example.com before the end of each month.
Genki, St Agnes: for summer time Acaia bowls. West Beach Porthmeor Cafe, St Ives: Deli style lunches, pizza and fish bar. Just pure quality food by an awesome young couple, plus right on the sand. Mine Restaurant, Falmouth: For something a little posher with a laid back atmosphere. Serving up the best that Cornwall has to offer in simple, playful dishes. The Chintz Bar, Falmouth: to have a drink down the rabbit hole! Dynamite Valley Brewery Beer cafe, Ponsanooth: every Saturday 12-6pm. Every pint is only £3. Drink your beer only meters from where it is brewed with a great Aussie Style barbie next door.
Slice of Cornwall Café Restaurant, Falmouth: a truly beautiful spot in Trewardreva Mill, North Helford, set near to ancient woodlands. This off the beaten track spot needs a visit. Eco Park Cafe, Mount Pleasant: the Wilder Allotment Kitchen is a vegan cafe focused on delicious wholesome food, with live music and entertainment, and a great vibe not far from the sea. The Ferryboat Inn, Helford Passage: This magical Inn, in a beautiful cove, enjoys one of the county's pub's most beautiful waterside views across the Helford Passage. Really, really delicious home-made pub grub, and run by the loveliest couple. The Punchbowl and Ladle, Feock: very cosy 15th century pub, serving delicious pub classics and award winning ales. Behind the Bike Sheds, Wadebridge: a gem owned and run by Paul Ripley, a legendary Michelin chef, and best mate Steve Morey, doing classic and comfort food, extremely well!
If you do one thing today, please watch this! Just released. As sea addicts, this short film really moved us! So take 4 mins out today to watch some really moving seascapes and messages, all from recycled footage, with a great soundtrack by Bicep (our current number 1 "Welcome to favourite Friday night" tune at home) from a charity based in Cornwall that does so much more than its name says; Surfers Against Sewage. Watch now And... we're very proud to announce that we've just joined the Surfers Against Sewage 250 Club to help support future SAS projects.
Boris & Joe just missed out on visiting St Michael's Mount, as the Cornish fog decided to protect the ancient island from their flock of helicopters, so they couldn't land yesterday! It still looked breath taking. We're on the hunt for the best places to eat, drink, and relax near one of the oldest towns in the UK and a gateway to many beautiful parts of Cornwall. So, if you're in the know of where to go in the deep south west of Cornwall, email or DM us with your tips.
Thanks so much to everyone that helped us put this month's list together. Make sure you try as many as you can and please drop us a comment on Facebook or Instagram if you enjoyed yourselves, as it's lovely to hear your feedback. And of course, if you want to be the one that shows off to your friends that you're in the know, then please share this with them all and be rewarded by the many invitations to days and evenings out that will follow from all your adoring fans. Nic & Meisha xx
